Last week we sent a team of Urjanetters to Las Vegas to participate in this year’s Money20/20 conference, where they networked with leaders and partners in the fintech world. For many, it was the first conference since 2019, and the energy and excitement were palpable as financial services leaders met to discuss some of the big issues facing the industry today.  Here is a brief recap and some of our key takeaways from the event, including our SVP of Corporate Development Erik Becker’s presentation.

Urjanet’s big announcement

As Urjanet continues to offer alternative data as a source for financial inclusion, a better digital experience, identity verification, and fraud prevention, we saw the need to build a platform to test the different uses of our data. On the Utopia stage, Erik Becker announced an enhancement to our financial services solutions with the developer portal and sandbox. This will allow teams to easily test various scenarios and see for themselves just how powerful Urjanet’s solution is.

Other hot topics at Money20/20 included data, privacy, identity verification, open banking, the rise of buy now, pay later models, credit card and banking as a service, and cryptocurrency. Jelena McWilliams, the chairman of the FDIC, discussed the power of innovation with cryptocurrency and provided details on how they’re working with the Federal Reserve and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish clear guidance on crypto assets.

What’s next?

The financial services industry is a top target for fraudsters, and fraud attempts have increased significantly. Conferences like Money20/20 are always a great opportunity to connect with industry leaders and converge on the role fintech plays in mitigating fraud risk, driving the digital transformation, expanding credit access, and streamlining identity verification. We’re excited to see what’s to come for next year’s event.

If you missed us at Money20/20, it’s not too late to learn more about how Urjanet is putting alternative data to use.
