Q: What is Time of Use (TOU)?
A: Time of Use (TOU) pricing is a variable rate structure that charges for energy depending on the time of day and the season the energy is used. With TOU rates, your bill amount will be determined both by when you use electricity and by how much you use*.
*U.S. time of use is described in terms of on-peak, off-peak and mid-peak. U.K. time of use is commonly described in terms of amber, red and super red.
