Urjanet Partners with ENERGY STAR® to Deliver Utility Data Directly into Portfolio Manager

Automated Data Will Increase the Adoption and Ongoing Use of Portfolio Manager

ATLANTA — May 5, 2015 — Urjanet, the world’s first automated utility bill and interval data-as-a-service solution, today announced a partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR program. This partnership will enable Portfolio Manager users to seamlessly integrate their utility bill data directly into Portfolio Manager, so that they can reduce energy and water consumption, cost, and carbon emissions.

“We are very happy to bring on Urjanet as an ENERGY STAR partner,” said Jean Lupinacci, Chief of the ENERGY STAR Commercial & Industrial Branch. “By automating data delivery into ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, Urjanet will make it easier for many users to get their data into the tool, so they can focus their time on acting on the information that comes out.”

Before the EPA released Portfolio Manager’s REST-based API in July 2013, some users with large building portfolios found that getting their energy data into Portfolio Manager via manual data entry or Excel spreadsheets for benchmarking was too time-intensive. As an early adopter of Portfolio Manager’s API, Urjanet helps more building owners and managers enroll in Portfolio Manager by automatically populating their monthly utility data into the application.

“We’re excited about our ENERGY STAR partnership because our data solutions were specifically designed with applications like Portfolio Manager in mind,” said Sanjoy Malik, Urjanet’s CEO. “Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for Portfolio Manager users to derive value from the application. Integrating Urjanet data into Portfolio Manager improves organizations’ ability to measure and track energy and water consumption, as well as greenhouse gas emissions while benchmarking building performance.”

Urjanet’s philosophy is that all energy service providers, utilities, and commercial and industrial organizations should be able to easily input utility data into Portfolio Manager. A growing list of industry-leading organizations rely on Urjanet to automatically collect, normalize, audit, and deliver their utility data directly into Portfolio Manager.

Launched in 1999, Portfolio Manager has become the industry standard for benchmarking energy efficiency. It is a premier web-based solution that provides a big-picture view of how energy is being used by facilities and allows for comparisons to better understand building performance. Currently, more than 400,000 buildings nationwide—more than 40% of all commercial floor space—measure and track their energy performance in Portfolio Manager.
