FacilityDude Selects Urjanet for Big Energy Data

FacilityDude will leverage Urjanet’s high-quality utility data to support the energy management initiatives of its clients.

ATLANTA and CARY, NC — April 17, 2014 — FacilityDude and Urjanet today announced their partnership to provide big data energy management solutions for commercial buildings. Both companies are teaming up to solve one of the biggest issues facing facility managers’ sustainability and energy efficiency efforts: the challenge of acquiring and managing the data organizations need to make smarter, more profitable and eco-friendly energy decisions.

“Our clients often need a way to better manage utility data,” said Tom Knox, President of FacilityDude. “Our partnership with Urjanet allows us to help solve a challenge for our clients, while also providing them valuable savings.”

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), energy used by commercial and industrial buildings in the United States is responsible for nearly 50 percent of national emissions of greenhouse gases that contribute to global climate change. Energy usage must be understood before it can before it can be reduced. That’s why acquiring accurate, complete and timely energy data is the critical first step for organizations to identify opportunities to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.

To ensure their customers have automated access to reliable, high-quality utility data, FacilityDude partnered with Urjanet to obtain real-time access to data from utility providers. Urjanet’s Big Energy Data service automates the collection, normalization and delivery of data from more than 800 utility providers across North America. FacilityDude’s clients will then be able to leverage Urjanet’s data to make decisions for reducing both utility costs and carbon emissions.

“I’m excited about our partnership with FacilityDude for two reasons,” said Urjanet CEO, Sanjoy Malik. “First, we’re eliminating the process of manual data entry for monthly utility bills. This will remove the arduous task of gathering data. Secondly, because FacilityDude clients will be able to analyze our utility data to cut costs and improve operational efficiency. Together we’re helping companies gain clear insights to reduce both their utility spend and carbon footprint.”
