EnergyWatch Joins Forces with Urjanet to Advance its Energy Consulting Processes and Results

EnergyWatch utilizes Urjanet Utility Data to improve operational efficiency and provide clients
with more comprehensive and accurate energy procurement and reporting

ATLANTA and NEW YORK — October 13, 2015 — EnergyWatch, a full service utility rate consulting firm, and Urjanet, the world’s leading provider of automated utility data, today announced a partnership in which EnergyWatch will use Urjanet data to improve operational efficiency and enhance the quality of its energy procurement analysis and reporting. Through Urjanet, EnergyWatch will have easy access to all of its clients’ current and historical utility bill data, which serves as the basis for many of its utility contract negotiations and recommendations.

“Before partnering with Urjanet, aggregating and organizing all of our clients’ utility data was a big headache,” said Andy Anderson, Partner and Managing Director of EnergyWatch. “We struggled to obtain complete sets of utility data from hundreds of disparate utilities in order to maximize client returns and were forced to divert internal resources to low-level data collection tasks. With Urjanet’s automated solution, we now receive higher quality data and get it much faster, allowing us to deliver more value to our clients.”

To date, EnergyWatch has shifted 105 hours per month from data entry to analysis, auditing, and reporting. One of the first consulting practices in the deregulated energy market in New York City, EnergyWatch has helped commercial and corporate real estate clients save and recover millions of dollars on utility costs. Additionally, EnergyWatch has helped clients simplify energy reporting to improve visibility into KPIs for stakeholders and increase energy income through strategic consulting, data analytics, and measurement and verification of Energy Conservation Measures (ECM).

“Because Urjanet’s detailed utility data is extensively audited, I am more confident in the energy consumption information that we are submitting to city and state regulators and to our clients,” said Anderson. “Urjanet is the only company I’ve come across that has truly solved the utility data access problem at scale.”

With more cities passing energy benchmarking requirements each month, it is becoming increasingly
important to obtain whole-building utility data. At this point, fourteen cities, two states, and one county have already established energy benchmarking and transparency laws.

“As laws mandating energy use disclosure gain momentum in the U.S., it becomes critical for organizations to access high-quality, reliable utility bill data,” said Gary Brooks, Urjanet’s Chief Marketing Officer. “The Urjanet-EnergyWatch partnership will play a powerful role in helping companies become compliant with local energy ordinances.”
